A few weeks back I had the pleasure to show my mother one of my favorite cities in the world – London.
And we were lucky to find this gem in the heart of Brentford just in the West of the city – the Novotel London Brentford.
For those of you who haven´t heard of Brentford before. It is the best of both worlds – you get the suburban tranquillity but within 30 minutes you find yourself in the heart oft he city.
And even if you´d like to spend some time in Brentford, there is plenty to see and do! You could catch the local heroes from Brentford FC or dive into nature with the Royal Kew Gardens just around the corner.
Whenever I visit big cities, this is exactly what I look for. It gives me the chance to relax and take a deep breath after a long day full of city-activities. Especially my mother appreciated that a lot.
Landing in Gatwick, it took us about 45 minutes to get to Brentford station.
From there we strolled through a typical British suburban neighborhood for about 10 minutes until we reached the modern Novotel London Brentford.
Once inside the lobby, we were greeted with smiles and went to our Twin Room.
Very clean, very spacious and most importantly very bright, thanks to the big windows.
But to me, it´s always the little things, which make a difference. Gimmicks or attention to detail that can make you smile. Here, it was the bathroom for me. Looking at it first I saw a glass wall connecting the bathroom to the rest of the room, which might throw you off at first. But not if you know the gimmick behind it! Inside the bathroom is a switch on the wall – once turned it transforms the see-through glass wall into an opaque one. This. Is. Cool.
Looking forward to showing my mother the city, the helpful staff shared with me the best ways to get into the city.
With the bus stop literally being across the street from the hotel, it took us only a few minutes to get to Ealing. And by the way, I love Ealing. You can find everything there, from a wide range of shops, cafes to amazing restaurants!
From Ealing, it is another short trip of around 15 minutes with the Tube and you´re in Kensington, Notting Hill, etc.
Personally, I like to get up very early in the morning and preferably get a workout in to start my day, which is why I was so grateful for the hotels very own Fitness Studio! Even though I showed up at 6 am, I was surprised not being the only one down there. The most modern equipment and the spacious gym allowed me to work out just like I would do at home.
With that in the books, I was looking forward to breakfast and wasn´t disappointed at all! I´m one of the people who love the British breakfast and let me give you a personal recommendation – you need to try the sausages! Oh wow, probably one of the best I´ve had so far in the UK!
So the food gets a 10/10 but what takes the cake was the dining area – even though it was very busy with people, it remained quiet and the open space allowed for a very chilled and relaxed atmosphere.
Talking about a chilled atmosphere – I must mention to you, that after a packed two days and countless kilometers in my legs you should have seen my eyes when I saw that there is a spa area just next to the Hotel gym.
And since I went pretty late in the afternoon, I had the pool and sauna all to myself. I was able to kick back and relax, let these last few days just go through my head and appreciate all the memories I was able to make with my mom.
From the amazing staff to the amenities provided, our stay at the Novotel easily contributed to that in a major way!
From the eco-friendly lobby to the spacious dining room the Novotel London Brentford creates an instant mood of tranquillity and comfort. It blends perfectly into its surroundings while still not disconnecting you from the city.
Disclaimer: The stay at the hotel was complimentary - but naturally all opinions remain my own.
